Giggle & Hoot Dessert Table

Remember we told you we had some exciting news to share with you in our last blog post?

We are now able to reveal that the legendary guru of event styling, Amy Atlas, has featured a Little Birdie dessert table on her blog. Amy's work is much admired, and we feel very honoured to be featured. Click here to have a look.

As we mentioned in our last post, two days before Gerri had baby Lulu (now 5 weeks-old), we were asked to style a Giggle & Hoot inspired dessert table for cute twin girls, Abi and Emi, for their first birthday. The birthday party was just over two weeks away, and was to cater for 60 guests!

We love styling dessert tables, so we did some pretty quick work and immersed ourselves in this project. We had a lot of fun, and we're very happy to be able to share the details of this dessert table with you. We have included vendor credits throughout and at the end of the post.

The colours of Hoot inspired the orange and blue colour palette of the party. We enjoyed working with a theme that was different to the typical one-year-old girls' birthday party. We especially loved working with the orange and blue colours, and enjoyed finding interesting ways to bring in "a touch of Hoot".

We really enjoyed working with our wonderful suppliers, Rosie at Jocelyn's Provisions and Judy at Cakes by Judy C, to create the gorgeously coordinated sweet treats for the dessert tables. We also love the cakes made by Sara at Delicious by Sara.

Dessert table featuring Hoot

Just days before the event we designed a mini Hootabelle dessert table to feature an additional cake. This table featured Hootabelle's pink and purple colouring.

We like to combine innovative ideas with a striking tablescape. If we can, we prefer not to be too literal with a theme. Instead of using the image of Hoot, we took aspects of Hoot's design and featured these on the decorated vanilla biscuits (see the blue-and-white-coloured stitched heart design), and New York Vanilla cupcakes (like the orange button atop the buttercream frosting).

Jaffa macarons and chocolate marshmallow hearts worked nicely with our colour palette, which also featured chocolate brown.

We love to work with patterns. For this table we used beautiful paper to wrap individual Lindt chocolate bars, completed with personalised stickers we created using the image of Hoot. The patterns also featured on our risers.

We chose a very simple backdrop with colour-coordinated pom poms. We were delighted to have a corrugated iron background to work with, as this is consistent with Giggle and Hoot's recycling theme.

Candies on the table included lemonade lollipops, jumbo choc orange balls, blueberry clouds, and sherbet flying saucers. Colour-coordinated mini jellybeans lined plates to display other sweet treats.

The mini Hootabelle table featured shortbread hearts, meringues, rosewater pashmak (Persian fairy floss), strawberry bon bons, old-fashioned candy sticks, and sherbet flying saucers.

We loved the Hoot and Hootabelle cakes. They were excellent centrepieces for the tables.

Little Birdie Update

It's been a busy time for the Little Birdies since our last blog postWe have exciting news!

Gerri had her lovely baby girl, Lulu, in early July.

Just days before this we received an enquiry for us to style a dessert table for twin girls turning one... in just a few weeks! We love to help, so we immersed ourselves in this project. It was a busy, but fun time.

Lulu helped us style a super fun dessert table at just over two weeks-old. Pat and Archie helped too, of course!

We received some exciting news, which we will share with you soon, along with the photos of this fun dessert table.

We have also been thrilled by the launch of our new website!

We loved creating it with Sarah, from Style Me Gorgeous, and Scott, from Hynd Design.

As always our minds are pleasantly busy creating beautiful, inspired ideas for splendid events and sweet tables. We are looking forward to sharing more of our work with you over the coming weeks from events booked throughout the rest of the year.
